I was lucky enough to have a chat with Matyas from Downshift recently and convince him we needed to grab the cameras and head out to Matsui to see what the QLD drifting scene had to offer. With a fresh tank of fuel (and Pork rolls with iced coffee for our own tank) we were off. Matyas threw me his Canon 5Dmk2 to see what I could come up with, It was my first time shooting with a canon and I really enjoyed it! Thanks Again Matyas.
After walking through the gates we were not disappointed. The wet skid pan was already alive with the sounds of turbos, and with nice Series 1 RX7 ready to go on next it was aural pleasure.
Matyas was working hard to get the shots as usual.
HOON and the newly installed RB26, pushing out over 450 tyre shredding ponies.
Everyone was absolutely baking through turn 6 putting on a massive show for the crowd
The Gravy Garage boys has the best trains of the day, 3 deep with lots of angle!
Nigel was up with the Engineered To Slide Hilux Ute. Was great to see this car in the flesh after following the build online. Its a pure work of art. He was having alternator/battery issues in the day but assured me he'd be out for a slide later in the afternoon.
A tough s13 with a 1j installed. It was stunning.
A quick wander around to the short track to check out the action. Lots of close calls and wall runs but most got away scratch free
A bit of surprise seeing a Forrester out, but he was showing alot of other cars how to destroy a set of rubber.
Just another Gravy Train.
Even wandering around through the pits the quality of cars was a sight to hold.
Felony DC with a bit of eye candy on display
Dennis made the trip up from melbourne with his RB30 ditrty 30. Check out those front flares!
All in all it was a great day out, everyone had a great vide and conversation was light and easy. Congrats to Neil Lewis and Queensland Raceway for putting on a great weekend. Looking forward to heading out again in March
